Ian Mason

Head of Development, Virgin StartUp

Economist, author and entrepreneur, Ian Mason, was instrumental in the creation and development of Virgin StartUp, Sir Richard Branson’s not-for-profit company for entrepreneurs. He is also the founder of an education company which provides physical and digital learning resources to more than 700 UK schools and six countries.  More recently, Ian was appointed leader of the UK’s delegation to the Y20 Summit, responsible for representing the views of young people in the UK to the G20 World Leaders at their annual summit. He has since become chairman of the Youth Diplomatic Service of the United Kingdom, an organisation that seeks out and develops the business, academic and political leaders of the future.

Ian campaigns on a number of key issues, including the universal right to education, enhanced social mobility through entrepreneurship and improved levels of financial literacy. In his spare time, Ian enjoys playing football, motorsport, shooting, ballroom dancing, running and listening to jazz swing music.
